Jazz Dance
Beginning Jazz Dance I - No dance experience is necessary. This course is for sixth, seventh, & eighth grade students. The students will be learning jazz, lyrical, & tap dance technique and terminology. Students are required to dress-out in black sleeveless leotard & black dance shorts, tan tights and tan jazz shoes. Boys wear black shorts/pants and black t-shirt and tan jazz shoes. Health Education will be taught one day a week. Fee $35 (includes Dance dept. t-shirt).
**Jazz Dance II – A continuation of Jazz Dance I. This course is for sixth, seventh, & eighth grade students who have completed Dance 1 or Beginning Jazz Dance. The students will continue learning jazz, pom, kick, & lyrical dance technique and terminology. Students are required to dress-out in black sleeveless leotard and dance shorts, tan tights and jazz shoes. Boys wear black shorts/pants and black t-shirt and tan jazz shoes. Health Education will be taught one day a week. Fee $35 (includes Dance II t-shirt).
**Jazz Juniors & DMS Performers/Intermediate Jazz Dance – These courses are reserved for sixth, seventh, & eighth students and is by audition only.
Jazz Juniors (6th, 7th & 8th grade) DMS Performers (7th & 8th). The students will continue learning jazz, pom, kick, & lyrical dance technique and terminology. Students are required to dress-out in black sleeveless leotard and dance shorts, tan tights and jazz shoes. Boys wear black shorts/pants and black t-shirt and tan jazz shoes. Health Education will be taught one day a week. Fee $35 (includes Dance t-shirt).
**Magnet Dancers/Advanced Jazz Dance - This course is reserved for 7th & 8th grade students and is by audition only. The students will continue learning jazz, pom, kick, &lyrical dance technique and terminology. Students are required to dress-out in black sleeveless leotard and dance shorts, tan tights and jazz shoes. Boys wear black shorts/pants and black t-shirt and tan jazz shoes. Health Education will be taught one day a week. Fee $35 (includes Dance t-shirt).
